The Real Cost of an Outdated Catalogue
4 min readApr 2026EaseMyOps Editorial
Your catalogue is your business when you are not in the room. What an outdated one quietly costs you — and what a good one actually contains.
Every SME has a catalogue moment: a serious buyer asks you to 'send your details,' and someone on your team forwards a PDF from 2018 with compressed photos, old prices and two products you no longer make. The buyer does not complain. They just do not reply.
What a catalogue is for
A catalogue is not a photo album. It is a sales tool designed to be forwarded. Your contact sends it to their boss, their purchase team, their colleague in another plant. In those rooms, the catalogue is you. If it looks careless, you look careless — to people you will never get the chance to correct.
What a good one contains
Clean, consistent product photographs — a one-day shoot or AI-assisted cleanup of existing photos is usually enough. Specifications a buyer can act on: sizes, materials, capacity, standards. A short capability page. Clear contact details on every page. A file size small enough to forward on WhatsApp without hesitation.
Redone properly, a catalogue is a one-time project that sells for you for years. Few improvements in an SME have a better effort-to-impact ratio.
Reading is step one
