Why Your Google Business Profile Matters More Than You Think

For most Indian SMEs, the Google listing gets more views than the website. It is free, takes a week to set up properly, and quietly influences serious buyers.

Before a buyer visits your website, they usually see your Google Business Profile — the box that appears when someone searches your company name or your category in your city. For many SMEs, that profile gets five to ten times the views of their website. Yet it is often claimed by nobody, shows the wrong category, and has three blurry photos from 2019.

What a strong profile looks like

Correct name, category and hours. Twenty or more real photographs — your premises, products, team, work in progress. A written description that says what you actually do. Every review answered, especially the critical ones. A post every week or two. None of this costs money. It costs one disciplined week.

The reviews question

Owners often say their B2B buyers do not read reviews. They do — not for star ratings, but as verification. Ten genuine reviews with specific detail ('supplied 400 units on time for our Pune plant') tell a stranger more about your reliability than any brochure line. Ask your happiest customers, in person, right after a successful delivery.
Your Google profile is your digital front gate. Most businesses leave it unpainted. The ones that maintain it look established before a single conversation begins.

Reading is step one
